Common Questions About Our Walks

Everything you need to know about our Inistioge Bridge, Nore Valley, and River Weir trails

Our Inistioge Bridge walk takes around 2-3 hours including stops for photos and heritage chat. The Nore Valley Woodland Trail is a full-day experience (5-6 hours with lunch break), while the River Weir and Mill Town loop fits nicely into 3-4 hours. We always build in plenty of rest stops, so there's no rush.

Absolutely—they're designed specifically for that. We focus on easy terrain with minimal steep sections. Most of our walkers are pensioners enjoying their first proper countryside walks in years. The guides know exactly where to pace things and when to suggest a sit-down with a cup of tea.

Comfortable walking shoes (not trainers), waterproof jacket, and layers work best for Kilkenny's weather. We recommend a small backpack with water, snacks, and sunscreen. Check out our Walking Tips for Pensioners guide for a detailed checklist—it covers everything from foot care to what footwear actually works on woodland paths.

The Inistioge walk is mostly on firm paths and quiet village streets. Nore Valley has woodland trails that can be muddy after rain—proper walking shoes are essential. The River Weir route mixes riverside towpaths (very easy) with some gentle woodland sections. We'll always let you know what to expect before you book.

We run walks year-round. Winter's actually lovely here—fewer insects, clearer views through the trees, and the river's more dramatic. We just start earlier in the day and keep an eye on weather. Spring and autumn are particularly beautiful for the Nore Valley when the woodland's changing color.

Of course! We welcome solo walkers and groups. If you're bringing friends or want a private guided experience for your walking club or family, we can arrange that too. Just get in touch and let's work out the details.
